Final Score: Pittsburgh 4, NY Islanders 3 (SO)

Uniondale, NY (Sports Network) - Petr Sykora netted the only goal of the shootout to lift the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. Tyler Kennedy had a pair of goals in regulation and Dany Sabourin made 19 saves through overtime and then came up with the three all-important shootout stops. Doug Weight started things off with a backhander into the left pad and Sykora lifted a backhand shot over the glove of Joey MacDonald in close. Bill Guerin then had a forehand shot gloved by Sabourin and Miroslav Satan fired a wrist shot into the shoulder of MacDonald. Trent Hunter had a chance to extend the session for New York and fired a low shot that got caught up in Sabourin's left pad. The play had to reviewed as the netminder slid back into his own net but it was eventually upheld. Jordan Staal also found the back of the net for Pittsburgh, which has won three straight. Michael Zigomanis had two assists in the win. Weight had a goal and an assist with Andy Hilbert and Tim Jackman adding goals in a losing effort for New York, which has lost eight of its last 10. Andy Sutton contributed a pair of assists. MacDonald has been getting most of the goaltending duties this year with Rick DiPietro on injured reserve and made 29 saves in a losing effort.

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Vinny Prospal netted the game-winner in the second period and Mike Smith made 35 stops as Tampa Bay snuck by Philadelphia, 2-1, at the Wachovia Center. In his return after missing only six games from abdominal surgery, Daniel Briere scored the lone goal for the Flyers, who have dropped three in a row. Martin Biron was the hard-luck loser after a 20-save performance.

Final Score: Washington 3, NY Rangers 1

The Devils have lost eight straight and nine of their last 10 at Detroit.

Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Derick Brassard's early second-period goal proved to be the game-winner, as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Calgary Flames, 3-1, at Nationwide Arena. Jason Chimera and Manny Malhotra also scored for the Blue Jackets, who have won three in a row and recorded at least a point in six consecutive games (4-0-2). Rookie Steve Mason made 22 saves to pick up his third win in as many starts. Jarome Iginla lit the lamp for Calgary, which has dropped three of its last four games. Curtis McElhinney, making his 2008-09 debut and second career start, allowed three goals on 28 shots to take the loss. Miikka Kiprusoff had started the first 14 games for the Flames this season.

Final Score: Colorado 1, Nashville 0

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Peter Budaj stopped all 26 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season, as the Colorado Avalanche blanked Nashville, 1-0, at the Pepsi Center. It was the sixth career shutout for Budaj, who helped the Avs halt their five- game losing streak. Darcy Tucker provided the game's only tally with his 200th career goal. Dan Ellis was solid in net for Nashville, making 19 saves, but the Predators went on to lose their third straight game. They were also shut out on November 4 by Vancouver.

Final Score: Phoenix 4, Florida 1

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Ilya Bryzgalov stopped all but one of Florida's 27 shots and Mikkel Boedker scored two goals as the Phoenix Coyotes notched a 4-1 win over the Panthers. Olli Jokinen had a goal and an assist for Phoenix in his first game since the former Panthers captain was dealt from Florida during the offseason. Peter Mueller also scored and Keith Yandle had two assists for the Coyotes, who had dropped two of three games and six of nine coming in. Richard Zednik had the lone goal for Florida, which got 35 saves from Tomas Vokoun in defeat, the Panthers' sixth straight. Florida's last win came on October 24 against San Jose and now sits alone at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with nine points.

Final Score: Vancouver 2, Minnesota 0

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Roberto Luongo logged his third consecutive shutout as the Vancouver Canucks blanked the Minnesota Wild, 2-0, at General Motors Place. Luongo stopped all 29 of Minnesota's shots and has held opponents scoreless for 201 minutes and eight seconds dating back to the second period of a 3-2 loss to Detroit last Sunday. The star netminder went on to log shutouts against Nashville and Phoenix and will go for his own franchise record of 210 minutes and 34 seconds, set last year, Wednesday at home against Colorado. Sami Salo and Daniel Sedin scored the goals for Vancouver, which has streaked to three straight wins behind Luongo. Henrik Sedin and Kevin Bieksa assisted on both scores. The Canucks are now 3-1 in the midst of a six-game homestand -- their longest residency of the season. Niklas Backstrom did well in keeping Minnesota in the game, turning away 27-of-29 Vancouver shots in defeat. The Wild have now dropped four of their last six games since starting the season with a 5-0-1 mark.

Final Score: San Jose 2, Dallas 1

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - Patrick Marleau scored the game-winning goal with 28.3 seconds remaining in the third period and the San Jose Sharks stayed hot with a 2-1 win over the Dallas Stars at the HP Pavilion. Marty Turco came out to play a dump-in and literally handed the Sharks their seventh straight victory, as his clearing attempt hit Marleau and he chipped the puck past the scrambling netminder. Marleau also picked up the secondary assist on Dan Boyle's first-period tally. With Evgeni Nabokov nursing an unspecified lower-body injury and listed as day-to-day, Brian Boucher got the start between the pipes and made 23 saves for San Jose, which is a perfect 9-0-0 at home this season. Originally drafted by Philadelphia in the first round of the 1995 draft, Boucher had posted shutouts in his previous two starts this season. A Vezina trophy finalist in 2007-08, Nabokov was hurt on the final shot of the shootout in Thursday's 5-4 victory over St. Louis. Loui Eriksson had the lone goal for the Stars, who have lost three of their last four games. Turco allowed two goals on 33 shots in defeat.

Erik Ersberg stopped 24-of-27 shots. Andy McDonald and Brad Boyes both collected a goal and an assist for St. Louis, which is riding a five-game losing streak. Manny Legace returned to the crease for the Blues and allowed four goals on 30 shots. He hadn't played since suffering a strained left hip flexor in St. Louis' 4-0 home loss to the Kings on October 24, when he tripped on a carpet laid out for former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin to drop the ceremonial first puck.
