Stempniak gained control of the puck near center ice, and once over the Ducks' blue line, crossed to the left wing. As he reached the left circle, he released a low wrister which managed to get through Anaheim goaltender Jean- Sebastien Giguere.

David Backes and Steve Regier also tallied for the Blues, who have won two of three and posted their second straight overtime victory after besting Chicago last Friday.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? Manny Legace made 26 saves, improving to 6-3-1 on the season.

"It's just beautiful to watch when guys come up from the minors and step-in and don't miss a beat, you know not intimidated," Legace said of Brad Winchester, Regier and B.J. Crombeen, who fought just seconds into the game. "That's just hats off to the organization where they've got the guys prepared and ready to play."

Chris Kunitz and Scott Niedermayer scored for the Ducks, who have lost five of six. Giguere was the hard-luck loser, after making 25 stops.

Backes scored the lone goal of the first period, pumping home the rebound of Winchester's shot for a power-play marker at 7:14.

After a scoreless second period, the Ducks knotted the game 7:13 into the third as Kunitz batted home the rebound of Bobby Ryan's shot from the right circle.

However, St. Louis took the lead once more on the power play as Regier tapped in Backes' pass from inside the crease with 9:45 to play in the contest.

The Blues faced a 6-on-4 short-handed situation in the final minutes after Jay McKee was sent off for hooking with 1:23 to play and Giguere was called to the bench.

Legace was forced to make several saves in traffic until Niedermayer's desperation poke found its way into the net with less than a second to go.

"I was just fishing for the puck and it just happened to come to my stick," Niedermayer said. "I poked it towards the net and I saw it just go under him [Manny Legace], I didn't see it go in, I just saw it go under him."
