(Sports Network) - One day after being placed on waivers by the Ottawa Senators, defenseman Luke Richardson announced Friday that he is ready to move on from the National Hockey League.
Richardson, 39, skated in just two games with the Sens and had been a healthy scratch for most of the season.
The 21-year veteran recorded 35 goals and 166 assists in 1,417 career games with Toronto, Edmonton, Philadelphia, Columbus, Tampa Bay and Ottawa.

Richardson was originally taken seventh overall by the Maple Leafs in the 1987 draft.
