(Sports Network) - Florida, Texas and Alabama remained the top
three teams in the latest Associated Press college football poll, while
Stanford was among three teams that moved into the rankings this week
following its upset of Oregon on Saturday.

Florida (9-0) received 39 first-place votes, one more than last week, and a
total of 1,467 points from a nationwide media panel to remain the top team in
the poll. The Gators topped Vanderbilt, 27-3, on Saturday for their 19th
straight win.

Texas (9-0) garnered 10 first-place votes, three fewer than last week, after
its 35-3 domination of UCF on Saturday, while Alabama (9-0) picked up 11 top
tallies following a gutty 24-15 win over LSU. The Crimson Tide, who clinched
the SEC West and a berth opposite Florida in the SEC title game with
Saturday's win, trail the Longhorns by just eight total points in the poll.

TCU moved up two spots into fourth, while Cincinnati and Boise State each
dropped one to fifth and sixth, respectively. The Horned Frogs pummeled San
Diego State, 55-12, on Saturday to remain unbeaten, while Cincinnati and Boise
State each struggled this weekend to keep their unblemished records intact.
The Bearcats held off Connecticut, 47-45, on Saturday night after the Broncos
escaped Louisiana Tech on Friday with a 45-35 win.

Georgia Tech, after an overtime win against Wake Forest, moved up three spots
to seventh. Pittsburgh, LSU and Ohio State complete this week's top 10.

Pittsburgh, which vaulted six spots from 14th after a 37-10 throttling of
Syracuse, is off to an 8-1 start for the first time since 1982 when Dan Marino
lined up under center for the Panthers. LSU remained ninth despite its loss in
Tuscaloosa, while Ohio State climbed five places from 15th after a 24-7 win at
Penn State.

The second 10 consists of Southern California, Miami-Florida, Houston, Oregon,
Iowa, Utah, Oklahoma State, Arizona, Penn State and Virginia Tech.

Oregon and Iowa both dropped out of the top 10 after losses on Saturday. The
Ducks, coming off the emotional victory over USC, dropped a 51-42 shootout at
Stanford and plummeted seven spots from seventh. The Hawkeyes, after
quarterback Ricky Stanzi was hurt in the second quarter, lost for the first
time this season with a 17-10 home setback to Northwestern and also dropped
seven spots from eighth.

Wisconsin, BYU, South Florida, Clemson and Stanford are the last five teams
ranked this week. Stanford is ranked for the first time since 2001, while
Clemson is in the poll for the first time this season. South Florida was
ranked for one week earlier this year.

Notre Dame, Oklahoma and California all fell out of this week's poll following
losses on Saturday. The Irish were beaten at home by Navy, while the Sooners
lost to Nebraska and the Golden Bears lost to Oregon State after star running
back Jahvid Best left the contest with a concussion.

Next week's schedule features a trio of games with ranked teams facing each
other, highlighted by Iowa's trip to Ohio State in a battle for the Big Ten
title. Stanford's debut as a ranked team will coincide with a visit to the LA
Coliseum against Southern California and TCU will face its biggest test of the
season when Utah travels to Fort Worth.
