SPRINGFIELD, Va. - The bodies of a husband and wife were found inside their Springfield area home Monday afternoon.

Family members went to the couple's home Monday and found the couple shot to death. Fairfax County (web | news) authorities say 66-year-old Richard Scott, who was a former captain for the Fairfax fire department, had Alzheimer's disease and his wife Suzanne had been taking care of him.

Authorities say found a handgun in the home and believe it was a murder-suicide. Police are still investigating what happened.

Sad reality of how Fairfax and Virginia have poor programs to assist the elderly and disabled.  Programs for the elderly and disabled are being used to support babies of illegal immigrants.  In order to take care of a US citizen whose parents are here illegally we subsidize their food and shelter, and energy through federal programs that are allocated by local governments.  I wonder if Fairfax did there job in making sure that all assisted families show proof of citizenship for all members living in a dwelling? Maybe if we allocated more money for the elderly and disabled we would see less violence like this sad story produced.  This is a tragedy  that could have been avoided with proper funding of all resources.  Some readers will be angry by my views but they are fact based that can not be disputed.  Why should citizens who sacrificed by being a firefighter have an outcome like this?
