WASHINGTON - A fight broke out after school on a street in Southeast. Resident Tim Krepp captured video of the students on his cell phone as they walked away when all of the sudden someone in the crowd threw a rock at Krepp. On the video, you can hear the rock hit and the children laugh.
The rock hit Krepp in the face.
The married father of two young children says this is wasn't the first time students threw rocks at him. A neighbor also had a window recently broken by a rock.
Fed up and frustrated by the students' disregard for residents and the latest attack, Krepp followed the group to the Metro where he says a Metro employee was unwilling to help. The students disappeared on the trains.
Neighbors and police believe the students attend Elliot Hine Junior High, which is just blocks away from the neighborhood. Police tell ABC 7 News they plan to make announcements at the school and send in officers to let the rock wielding students, whoever they are, know that officers are on the case and that behavior won't be tolerated.
Residents believe the students pick up the rocks from one resident's front yard. The homeowner told ABC 7 about the same time every day students pass by his house to pick up and throw them at each other. He says he called police three times but he had no idea that some in the group were heading up the street and using the rocks to hurt his neighbors. He is considering replacing the rocks with grass.
