(Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards signed free agent point guard Earl Boykins on Wednesday.
Boykins has not played in the NBA since 2008, when he played 16 minutes per game for the Charlotte Bobcats. Over 10 seasons, the 5-foot-5 Eastern Michigan product has averaged 9.4 points and 3.4 assists in 520 games.
"Earl is a proven veteran point guard who will provide us with leadership and stability off of the bench," said Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld.
To make room on the roster, the Wizards waived center/forward Paul Davis.
