WASHINGTON - The Washington archdiocese is moving forward with its push against the proposed legalization of same sex marriage in the district.
In a letter sent to D.C. Councilman Phil Mendelson, the archdiocese says Catholic charities may not be able to serve D.C. residents if the bill is not changed to include provisions aimed at preserving religious freedom.
The gay marriage bill passed through a council committee. It's expected to be approved by the full council.
