(Sports Network) - Caleb King rushed for two touchdowns, and
Aron White caught a pair of TDs, as the Georgia Bulldogs used a big second
half to rout Texas A&M, 44-20, in the Independence Bowl.

King ran for 60 yards on 16 carries for the Bulldogs (8-5), who were making
their 45th all-time bowl appearance. White caught two passes for 26 yards.
Shaun Chapas rushed for 43 yards and a score on five carries.

Joe Cox connected on 15-of-28 passes for 158 yards, two touchdowns and one
interception for Georgia, which improved to 26-16-3 in bowl games.

"I think it was great to at least go out on a win, especially against a
quality opponent that people were saying was a hot team," Cox said. "Beating
them in the fashion that we did, it was a great feeling."

Jerrod Johnson completed 29-of-58 passes for 362 yards, two touchdowns and
two interceptions for the Aggies (6-7), who were making their 31st bowl
appearance. Johnson also rushed for 51 yards on 14 carries.

"We executed fairly well, but at times we didn't make enough plays to win the
game," Johnson said. "They made some big plays and executed. We played a
really good ball game, but we just didn't make enough plays to win."

Christine Michael ran for 77 yards and a score on 15 carries. Howard Morrow
and Jamie McCoy each had TD catches for Texas A&M, which was outscored, 30-13,
in the second half.

The Bulldogs got things rolling in the third quarter with a field goal on
their first drive of the frame. King's 32-yard catch highlighted the march,
which Blair Walsh capped with a 49-yard field goal for a 17-14 lead with 9:25
left.

Georgia took over at the Aggies 24 following a 24-yard loss by Texas A&M on
4th-and-5. The Bulldogs capitalized three plays later when White caught a 24-
yard TD pass to make it 24-14 with 7:49 remaining.

A Sanders Commings interception halted the next Aggies drive. Georgia did
little on offense and had to punt, but Johnson was picked off again on Texas
A&M's next possession. Reshad Jones intercepted Johnson's pass and returned it
59 yards to the Aggies 28 with one minute to go in the third.

White hauled in a two-yard pass in the right corner of the end zone to end a
six-play, 28-yard drive, making it 31-14 with 13:19 to play in the fourth.

The gap expanded to 38-14 on King's one-yard TD run with 9:47 left. Chapas'
five-yard touchdown run made it a 44-14 game with 4:29 to play.

Morrow's five-yard TD catch with 1:13 to go accounted for the final margin.

Following a punt-filled first quarter, the Aggies had a chance to get on the
board early in the second, but Randy Bullock's 50-yard field goal was blocked
to keep the tilt scoreless.

Texas A&M failed to capitalize off a Cox interception on the ensuing Georgia
possession. However, the Aggies got the scoring going late in the second. On a
1st-and-10 from the Bulldogs 15, Johnson scrambled to his left and found McCoy
near the left pylon in the end zone for a 7-0 lead with 2:33 left.

On the ensuing kickoff, Brandon Boykin followed his blockers and sprinted 81
yards into the end zone to deadlock the contest with 2:22 to go. The Bulldogs
were then set up at the Aggies two-yard line following a blocked punt. King
rumbled in for the score to give Georgia a 14-7 margin with 1:22 remaining.

Texas A&M was at the Bulldogs' 20 following a 14-yard catch by Ryan Tannehill.
Johnson appeared to spike the ball with about one second left on the clock,
which would have set up for a possible field goal. However, the officials said
the time ran out before the spike, and the score remained 14-7 at the half.

The Aggies used a 14-yard TD run from Michael on their first possession of the
third stanza to tie the game at 14.


Game Notes

The Aggies were making their third appearance in the Independence Bowl and
their first since 2000...Georgia made its only previous appearance in the
Independence Bowl back in 1991...The Aggies outgained the Bulldogs, 471-366.
