(Sports Network) - Evgeni Nabokov was solid with 38 saves and Jed Ortmeyer netted the game-winner close to halfway through the second period, as San Jose defeated St. Louis, 3-1, at Scottrade Center.

Dany Heatley potted a power-play goal only 16 seconds before Ortmeyer at 8:23 to even the score for the Sharks, who have earned a point in 11 straight games (9-0-2). Joe Thornton added an empty-net goal and Dan Boyle posted two assists.

"That was the difference in the game," said Ortmeyer of the Sharks scoring 16 seconds apart. "They were all over us as far as the shots and [Nabokov] kept us in the game. To come out and get a couple quick ones really took the momentum away from them."

Jay McClement had the lone goal for St. Louis, which has lost seven of eight. Chris Mason was tested with 16 shots and allowed two by him.

"I think it's good for this team...regroup a little bit, get some rest and get focused for Thursday," said Blues forward Andy McDonald referring to St. Louis having the next four days off. "There is a lot of hockey left to play and the one positive is we're not playing where we're capable of."
