SPRINGFIELD, Va. - It was one of the most shocking and gruesome crimes in recent memory: the murder of three men in a home off Moultrie Road in Springfield.
Tuesday, we spoke with family members of the victims about a crime that remains unsolved one year later.
"I'm never going to have my brothers. They're never going to grow up with me, grow old with me," said Lisa Strope.
For Lisa Strope, the loss is as raw as one year ago when she learned her brothers Ryan and Terry and their friend Andy Yelice were found stabbed to death in their Springfield home.
The searing, ceaseless pain that comes from violent loss is knotted with the questions: why and who would do this?
"If anybody knows anything they need to come out," said Strope. "What happened to us, what happened to them and Andy's family...is just not right."
The Strope family says as long as the killers are out there other people could be at risk. While Fairfax County
(web | news) police have not made any arrests in this case, the family says they have faith.
"Justice will help....some of it...there will be no closure....we'll live this horror forever," said Chris Strope, Ryan and Terry's father.
But Chris Strope points to the reward for information about his son's killers. Police know there are at least two and that they wore black clothing with the words "police" and "SWAT" displayed when they charged into the home the night of November 19.
"It's a date that will always be etched in our hearts," said Strope.
