(Sports Network) - Miami Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown will miss Thursday's game against the Carolina Panthers due to a foot injury.
Brown left this past Sunday's 25-23 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after rolling what appeared to be his right ankle late in the third quarter.
Brown was hurt on a running play, when he lost a fumble and after the game was on crutches.
"Ronnie Brown will not play in this game," Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said on Tuesday. "As far as his status goes, we're going to have him see a specialist and we'll know more later but he will not play in this game. It's more of a foot (than an ankle)."
So far this season, Brown has a team-leading 648 yards on the ground with eight touchdowns.
Ricky Williams will start at running back on Thursday. Williams has rushed for 558 yards and six TDs on 105 carries this season. Third-string RB Lex Hilliard could see an elevated role with Brown being out.
Tight end Anthony Fasano (hip) did not practice again on Tuesday. Guard Justin Smiley (shoulder), tackle Paul Soliai (ankle), linebacker Erik Walden (hamstring) and safety Gibril Wilson (hamstring) all were limited in Tuesday's practice.
