(Sports Network) - On the same day he was honored as the National League Manager of the Year, Jim Tracy has agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Colorado Rockies.
Also, the entire 2009 Rockies coaching staff -- consisting of pitching coach Bob Apodaca, hitting coach Don Baylor, third base/infield coach Rich Dauer, bench coach Tom Runnels, first base coach Glenallen Hill and bullpen coach Jim Wright -- has agreed to return for the 2010 season
The extension comes right after Tracy was a landslide winner in the NL Manager of the Year race, placing first on 29 of 32 ballots to finish 54 points ahead of St. Louis skipper Tony La Russa.
Colorado was 18-28 when Tracy took over for the fired Clint Hurdle on May 29 and went 74-42 with him at the helm, as the Rockies advanced to the postseason for the second time in three years.
The Rockies' 92 wins this season were also a franchise high.
Colorado was an NL-best 45-29 in the second half, and, since June 4, its 72-38 mark was second to only the Yankees (72-37).
In addition to the Rockies, Tracy has also managed the Los Angeles Dodgers (2001-05) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2006-07). Overall, he has a 636-614 record as a manager.
