WASHINGTON - The Metropolitan Police Department (web | news) has announced road closures for the 22nd Annual Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon on Saturday.

Streets along the route of the walkathon will begin closing at 7:30 a.m. The walkathon is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and end at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The walkathon route is from the National Mall eastbound to 7th Street Northwest, then southbound on 7th Street Northwest, to Independence Avenue Southwest, westbound on Independence Avenue to Raoul Wallenberg Drive Southwest, southbound on Raoul Wallenberg Drive Southwest, to Ohio Drive Southwest, around the Tidal Basin back to Independence Avenue, Southwest, eastbound on Independence Avenue Southwest, across 14th Street and ends at the intersection of 14th Street and Madison Drive Northwest.

Drivers should expect delays and should consider alternate routes.
