STERLING, Va. - Loudoun County (web | news) Sheriff spokesperson Kraig Troxell says investigators are questioning a 71-year-old man in connection with a series of bizarre kissing incidents in Sterling.

Investigators initially reported two incidents in which female joggers said a man who appeared to be disoriented approached them and then kissed them -- one was kissed on the cheek, the other on the hand.

The first incident happened Nov. 20 in the 20750 block of Whitewater Drive; the second report came three days later, and in the same area. Both incidents took place about 9:15 a.m.

The man in custody was described as a a person of interest and has not been arrested or charged, Troxell said. Any charges would come only after consulting with the Commonwealth's Attorney, Troxell added.

Investigators say additional victims contacted the sheriff's office Tuesday after seeing media reports, all relating stories of similar incidents. They told police they weren't concerned enough to report the incidents initially.

The man was described as being in his mid-to-late 50s and of Middle Eastern decent. He was about 5'6" tall, with short, dark hair and a large nose, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at 703-777-1021.
