James Watson for president!

semicharmed - why do you hope someone's career is ruined for making a mistake? you must be unhappy. why do you have so much hatred in your heart? Be careful for what you wish for to happen to others because it could happen to you instead.

Even though i dont like what Vick did or allowed to happen to dogs, i dont wish bad on him. I am glad he was caught so that no more dogs would be harmed by him and hopefully this sends a message to anyone else hurting dogs. Notice i did not say hurting animals because America kills animals everyday. Imagine how the cows, chickens, turkeys, and pigs feel being as though they are slaughtered for human consumption.

People who commit crimes against human beings dont get this amount of time. 23 months is harsh for this crime and i hope he gets out on good behavior and returns to the NFL. I truly enjoyed watching Vick on the field. He is fine athelete and i support him, but i hope he has also learned a lesson.

Wow,

You can shoot your husband in the back with a shotgun (preacher's wife in Tennessee) and get no jail time, but go to jail for fighting dogs. There's something very wrong with that. Vick should definitely be punished for his actions, but the U.S. judicial system is a joke.

I hope this ruins his NFL career and him.

To those that are upset with his punishment - don't worry, the system will fail, let him out early and he'll go back to being a celebrity/athlete and there will be a whole group of kids who will grow up to be just like him. I'm so glad we have pathetic idiots like him as role models... the best part, is that his jersey is now the latest in gang/thug apparel I'm starting to see around the area. Yay.

guesswhat
M Vick was given the worst sentence of the offense due to his conduct according the the judge. I is being used as a media spring board to PETA. Oh and by the way, I can't wait to wear my fur coat this winter.

Rank & File
Cleaning kennel cages at the pound for 16 hours a day and not able to take a bath for 23 months would be fitting... Peeeeew!

EGod
bye bye boy woof woof

Prettyboy
I can't stand to see his face.. I hope he gets it in jail and that if by chance he gets out I hope he's mangled by a bunch of hungry rabid dogs!

He should have been given the full 5 years. He is a looser. I hope his career is over.

Mr Vick should have gotten 5 yrs. Just because he was the ring leader. I trust the state of Virginia does a better job in the court room. Mr Vick's action's including smoking blunts (drugs wrap in cigra) should ban him from sports.

I just wish the backlash against child-molesters would be this harsh. Why is it they seem to get a free pass from bleeding-heart judges and the public most of the time? Kill or molest a child and you have a few angry parents. Kill a few dogs and you get PETA, ASPCA and the Humane Society screaming for justice and changes in the law.

That said, I'm glad Vick was punished. While the suspension w/o pay and loss of endorsements is probably enough, these highly-paid and worshipped thugs need to learn that they aren't above the law or the public's opinion of them.

guesswhat
Here it is.....

"Federal rules governing time off for good behavior could reduce Vick's prison stay by about three months, resulting in a summer 2009 release".

He have must serve 80 percent of his time.

The Traveler - Now you can't see the hypocracy in animal rights. Have you seen the say cows are treated in slaughter houses, and the way chickens and pigs are treated. I think MV got a harsher sentence due to the fact of his high visibility in the world and I do not think that a common individual would have received the same sentence for the same offense. Oh and by the way, he never admitted that you "bank rolled" from the winnings he was only doing it as a hobby.

SpareMe
Black and White stripped prison suit?? I thought the colors were now orange, blue or tan. I haven't seen the black and white strips in centries!!

Anyhoo..this is so sad. This man has ruined his career and image over dog fighting. How stupid can one be.

I am disgusted that he got prison time - I heard someone say why should we pay to house him. Sentence him to the max. time doing service work - working with animals etc. Makes more sense to me then letting him lollygag around a jail.

The Traveler
It?s so nice to see that if you?re rich you can still get away with anything in America. It must be so nice. He admitted to killing 6 to 8 dogs plus bankrolling it and the fights.

23 Months - makes me want to riot! You sick, lazy, scared Americans who have no courage to do the right thing make me sick. I would of expected at least a year per animal death considering the manner if which they were killed. He should also be fired or banned from the NFL permanently not suspended. I know the rest of us normal working American citizens would of lost our jobs and freedom far more quickly then him.

Sick Sick Sick!!!!!

guesswhat
That's not true. They have to serve at least 80 percent of their time. I know for a fact because I know people who were in the system. Also, the feds have ferlows to ease their financial burden. That's is somehting that state do not do.

shortchange
If it is a federal court sentence he won't be eligibal for parol. They have to serve the entire time.

guesswhat
He can parole out in 18.4 months which is 80 percent of his sentence. I his legal team already knew what he was going to get and advised him to start serving time early.
