Virginia State Police troopers are trying to track down a vehicle that was reportedly racing another car that crashed on the Capital Beltway Monday night, killing its driver. Investigators say they got a report of two cars racing on southbound Interstate 495 before Gallows Road after 11 p.m. Monday.

About 11:17 p.m., police say 27-year-old David Mario Brandt of Annandale lost control of his 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer on the Gallows Road exit ramp. The car crashed into a tree. Brandt, who was wearing a seat belt, died on the scene.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Troopers are trying to track down the other vehicle that was reported to be racing Brandt. It was described as a silver 2004 to 2007 BMW model 200 or 300 series. It was last seen heading southbound on I-495.
