Resident: Overzealous Ticket-writer Made Mistake

Residents in one D.C. community are fuming after police issue tickets on their parked cars that, they said, were not violating the law.
The signs on the 1300 block of Quincy Street clearly said no parking during days when there is street cleaning. Many residents got a huge early holiday present from D.C. Police - a $30 ticket for parking on street cleaning days. "When I looked at the ticket and realized it was for no parking during street cleaning... I was amazed," said resident Scott Pender.
The problem is two weeks ago, the district, like it does every winter, suspended street cleaning until the spring and lifted the parking restriction. Pender went to the 4th district police headquarters to find our why he and his neighbors got tickets anyway.
"I talked to him and said I got a ticket for parking during street cleaning, but street cleaning has been suspended. He was a little surprised to find out street cleaning has been suspended and said we didn't know anything about it."
Even though police told Pender he and his neighbors should contest the tickets, he is concerned his neighbors will just pay the fine for what he calls a mistake by an overzealous ticket-writer.
