Police Search for Driver in Hit-and-Run that Killed Two

Maryland State Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed two people standing outside their vehicle on southbound Interstate-95 in Howard County. State police say 37-year-old Vaughn Monroe and 35-year-old Adrienne Jones, both from the District were pronounced dead at the scene early Sunday near the rest area in Savage. A positive identification has not been made.
Police say the victims were exchanging drivers along the right shoulder when they were struck.
A passenger in the back seat of the victims' vehicle told police they were hit by a 2004 Ford Explorer. Police say the driver of that vehicle stopped and walked back to the crash scene, but ran off after a brief conversation with the passenger.
The suspect is described as a white male in his early twenties, wearing dark clothing. He was last seen running southbound on I-95 away from the crash scene.
