A three-alarm fire at a Beltsville condominium building displaced as many as 100 people and injured two firefighters Monday morning.
The fire broke out about 9:15 a.m. Monday in a three-story building at the Cherry Glen condominiums in the 11,200-block of Cherry Hill Road. Prince George's County fire spokesman Mark Brady says two firefighters were hurt when a hose line struck them in the face, hitting their helmets and face pieces. They issued a "mayday" and were able to get out. Both appeared to be in good condition after being transported a hospital.

Brady says the fire was fanned by winds of up to 20 miles per hour. He says firefighters had to decide whether to save the burning building or the adjoining buildings. A trench was cut in the roof between the buildings so the fire wouldn't spread.
It took crews about 1 1/2 hours to knock out the blaze and caused an estimated $1.5 million worth of damages.
A total of 34 units in two building are now uninhabitable, displacing approximately 75-100 residents.
Authorities are investigating whether a power outage that started Sunday evening contributed to the cause of the fire and whether it could have been caused by lit candles.
