THIS MONTH THE POST OFFICE WILL HANDLE AN EXTRA 300 MILLION PIECES OF HOLIDAY MAIL, AND IF YOU ASK A DC WOMAN A LOT OF THAT IS ENDING UP ON HER DOORSTEP AND IT'S NOT JUST MAIL IT'S DELIVERY SERVICES TOO..ALL BECAUSE SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT IN THE SYSTEM.

Story:

Iris Bennett: "UPS were coming here with bundles of packages."

HOLIDAY PACKAGES THAT WEREN'T HERS.

Iris Bennett: "Make it stop. Make it stop."

ALRIGHT..THERE'S THE UPS MAN.

Ross:"It's the US Postal Service that ain't UPS. We're two different categories."

OH..JUST LIKE THESE ARE TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. SAME ADDRESS, SAME ZIP CODE BUT ONE IS A BRAND NEW BUILDING 300 HAMILTON ST NE THE OTHER IS IRIS BENNETT'S HOUSE, 300 HAMILTON STREET NW

Iris Bennet: "Every day I started getting the mail just started gushing in."

LOOKS LIKE THE POST OFFICE HASN'T GOT THE NE LOCATION ITS SYSTEM.

Iris Bennet: "300 Hamilton street NW this is 300 Hamilton st NE this is 300 Hamilton St NW."

IT'S BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE OCTOBER.

Iris Bennet: "I knew there was a big mistake here."

SO SHE INVESTIGATED.

Iris Bennet:"My car has a navigation system and I keyed it in and it gave me directions to it."

WE DID TOO. AND IT TOOK US RIGHT THERE.

300 HAMILTON ST NE. EASY TO FIND EVEN THOUGH THE POST OFFICE CAN'T.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 120 UNITS ARE HERE. NO WONDER IRIS HAS BEEN GETTING SO MUCH MAIL

Angela Ferguson/Leasing Agent: "We know the post office is having some difficulty establishing this property I can tell you that."

Ross:"They sure are. "

AND TWO MORE APARTMENTS ARE ABOUT TO OPEN ON THIS STREET. OKAY GPS TAKE US TO THE NEAREST POST OFFICE.

Ross:"Well we got a problem."

Clerk:"What's your problem?"

Clerk:"Step outside please and make sure that's off."

THEY WON'T TALK ON CAMERA BUT THEY KNOW ABOUT IT.

Ross:"They say they are going to take care of it."

LATER WE GET A CALL FROM HEADQUARTERS. AND ARE TOLD THE TWO ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN VERIFIED TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE RIGHT IN THE SYSTEM. THEY ARE GOING TO MONITOR IRIS BENNETT'S MAIL AND MANUALLY HANDLE DELIVERIES TO HER ADDRESS.

Ross:"I've got a special delivery for you."

Iris Bennett:"Okay."

THE DELIVERY SHE'S BEEN WAITING FOR...UNWANTED MAIL STOPS HERE.

Iris Bennett:"Thank you so much. "

Ross:"You're welcome."

Iris Bennett:"Alright."

I CHECKED BACK WITH IRIS AND THE MISDIRECTED MAIL HAS STOPPED. WE CONTACTED UPS AND FEDEX TOO...SO HOPEFULLY THAT'S THAT LAST OF IT.
