Former Virginia Officials Want to Be Tried Together

Former top officials at the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries are asking to be tried together on charges of misusing state funds.
A grand jury in September indicted William Woodfin, the agency's former director, and former game wardens Michael Caison and Terry Bradbery. The three were criticized in a 2005 audit for charging $11,532 on state credit cards for an African safari. Former board chairman Dan Hoffler also went on the trip but reimbursed the state.
In court motions, the three said a single trial will save the state money because they face similar charges and plan to call some of the same witnesses.
A judge will consider the requests in January.
