Police: Father Busted In Family-Run Incest Sting

A Spotsylvania County father is accused of a deeply troubling crime which was uncovered and revealed to investigators by the suspect's own relative, who took solving the case into her own hands.
Police said the girl's stepmother was so convinced that something unspeakable was happening in her home that she set up her own sting operation. "She suspected that it had been going on for a period of time," said Lt. Raymon Gill. Investigators said the woman carefully hid an audio recorder inside and a video recorder outside a bathroom. They said she captured enough evidence in the last few weeks to have her husband arrested and charged with sexually assaulting his own 15-year-old daughter.
"It's going above and beyond. To suspect it, that's a good thing. That's the open eye of a parent. But to turn it and actually come forward with information is even better, even more coragious. She should be commended for her actions," said Gill.
Spotsylvania County residents applauded the victim's stepmother for taking action. "I feel like the stepmom, she stepped up. As far as that not even being her child and to go and report that to the authorities, risking her marriage and everything she had held dear to her. I think that was a good thing to do," said Sid Thompson. Another resident, Bianca Gaston said, "Just instead of going to the person directly and saying, 'Did you do this...' yeah, I would do that because that is the only proof and evidence. And then nobody else would believe you if you didn't have proof."
The suspect is being held in jail without bond. His name is not being released in order to protect the identity of his daughter and family.
