Fire Recruit Diagnosed with MRSA

A D.C. fire recruit has been diagnosed with MRSA, the bacterial skin infection that has been in the news lately.
The recruit is being treated and her prognosis is good, according to a statement. The D.C. Fire and EMS Department says the recruit reported an unusual skin lesion last week, and the diagnosis was confirmed last Friday. Health officials say it is impossible to determine how the recruit became infected.
Three FEMS employees who work at the Department's Training Academy reported similar symptoms back in October. All were confirmed to have Staph infections, but none was ever confirmed to have the MRSA infection.
