About 60 people have been forced from their homes after a three-alarm fire broke out in a Greenbelt area apartment complex.

Fire officials say the blaze likely started in a ground-floor unit and spread quickly to the upper floors and roof of the Springhill Lake Apartment Complex. Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says firefighters were called to the complex about 2 p.m. Flying overhead, NewsChopper 7 captured pictures of fire eating through the roof of the garden-style apartment complex.

It took about 75 firefighters to extinguish the blaze. No injuries have been reported.

WTOP Radio reports there have been about 15 fires reported at the complex between April and August this year. A resident was later charged with arson.

A tenant was arrested for a lot of those fires that were set in laundry rooms and storage areas. I also think there were electrical problems as the electrical system is surely outdated. But it is still horrible no matter how it started. So many of these residents are in transition - just getting they feet on the ground and working to make things better for themselves and family.
