Authorities have identified the 5-year-old boy who was shot in the leg by a loaded gun he found under a sofa cushion in his Monrovia home. And they're investigating why the boy's parents had the gun hidden there.

The boy's name is Charles Donato, and his parents are Gail and Richard Donato. Charles is being treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital for a non-life-threatening wound.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says Charles reached under the sofa cushion last night and touched the pistol, causing it to fire a 9-millimeter bullet into his upper right thigh.

The boy's two siblings weren't hurt.

Investigators seized several weapons from the home.
