D.C. Police say investigators have broken up a brothel operating out of a spa in Glover Park.

The Metropolitan Police Department's Prostitution Enforcement Unit raided the Venus Spa on Wisconsin Avenue Thursday afternoon, arresting three women. Investigators charged 59-year-old Sun Pyong with operating a house of prostitution. Lian Shu Cui, 35, was charged with solicitation for lewd and immoral purposes and Son Bongsok, 45,  was charged with giving a massage without a license.  The three defendants are scheduled to be arraigned Friday in D.C. Superior Court.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? An undercover police officer was sent in to investigate the business after citizens complained. The sign on the door at the location raided by police said "Young s", even though police listed the business as Venus Spa.

The news that there was an alleged brothel operating next to restaurants and bars took many by surprise.

"I am absolutely flabberghasted," said restaurant patron Nell Minow.

"I've been to the restaurant next door several times. I've been to this bar. I had no idea," added fellow restaurant patron Rachel Apatoff.

Others claimed to have long noticed something suspicious.

"You'd always see guys going in and taking their time and then coming out later, it was pretty obvious," recalled bar patron Scott Hager.

The D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs is also investigating.
