Over 300 guns are off the streets after the D.C. police department held another gun buyback program Saturday. Police Chief Cathy Lanier reports 349 guns were turned in while the program ran from 8 a.m. and until 4 p.m. at area churches.

People turning in working firearms receive cash for guns ranging from $10 for air, BB and pellet guns to $100 for assault rifles or semiautomatic pistols. All gun possession charges were waived.

Lanier said the department paid $18,650 for the guns.

A buyback operation on Dec. 15 garnered 279 firearms.
