HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Hagerstown police say an officer who is charged with pointing a pistol at his girlfriend is on paid leave.
Twenty-four-year-old Curtis W. Kelley of Williamsport has been charged with first- and second-degree assault and one count of reckless endangerment.
Police Chief Arthur Smith says Kelley won't be working as a police officer until the matter is resolved.
According to court documents, police received a tip last month that Kelley allegedly pointed his department-issues gun at his live-in girlfriend's head during an argument at their apartment in September.
The documents say that on Nov. 19, the girlfriend confirmed that Kelley pointed the pistol at her.
Police confiscated Kelley's duty weapon.
