Frederick, Md. - Running a stop sign turned out to be the first of several bad ideas that landed a Frederick man behind bars Wednesday night.

Around 9:30 p.m., a Frederick police officer saw Travis Bowins run a stop sign in Amber Meadows and pulled the driver over. Once the car stopped, though, Bowins jumped out of the car and fled on foot through Amber Meadows Park.

The officer noticed a toddler strapped in the rear safety seat in the car. Police contacted the child's mother, Jamie Lynn Oden, and got her to the location to take the little boy.

Meanwhile, a police search for Bowins located him in a backyard in Amber Meadows.

Bowins was arrested for failing to stop at a stop sign, fleeing an officer, driving without a license after the revocation of his license, leaving a child unattended, making a false statement to an officer, obstruction, and resisting arrest. And Oden was arrested as well for obstructing the investigation.
