(Sports Network) - The University of Virginia announced
Monday that three assistants on its football team will not be with the school
for next season.
Assistant head coach/defensive backs coach Steve Bernstein will retire, while
defensive line coach Levern Belin and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach
Michael Groh -- son of head coach Al Groh -- will step down.
Defensive coordinator Bob Pruett will move into Bernstein's old job with
linebackers coach Bob Diaco taking Pruett's position. In addition, Anthony
Pondexter will move up from running backs coach to defensive secondary coach.
In Groh's eighth season at the helm, the Cavaliers had a down year, going 5-7
overall with a 3-5 mark in the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast
Conference.
