(Sports Network) - The Houston Rockets shoot for their third straight win Monday when they arrive in Memphis to take on the reeling Grizzlies at FedEx Forum.
Yao Ming scored a season-high 33 points to go with 14 rebounds and five assists last Friday, as the Rockets used a 43-point fourth quarter to pull away from the hapless Golden State Warriors, 131-112.
Ron Artest added 28 points, while Rafer Alston and Von Wafer chipped in 18 points apiece for the Rockets, who have won three of four despite the absence of star swingman Tracy McGrady (sore left knee).
Shane Battier logged 14 points on 4-of-4 shooting from behind the arc, highlighting Houston's terrific 13-of-21 efficiency from downtown.
The Grizzlies, meanwhile, lost in the Big Easy Saturday when Chris Paul had another spectacular all- around effort, with 21 points, 11 assists and five rebounds, in New Orleans' 106-87 win over Memphis.
The Grizz fell to a miserable 1-10 away from Memphis with the loss.
Marc Gasol scored 21 and pulled down seven rebounds in a reserve role for the Grizzlies, who had just one starter in double figures. That was O.J. Mayo, who had 18 points. Mayo has scored in double figures in his first 20 NBA games, the longest streak to begin an NBA career since Larry Bird had 20 straight games of 10-plus points for the Boston Celtics at the start of the 1979-80 season.
The Grizzlies, losers in eight of their last nine games, have not won consecutive contests since March 21-22, 2008. They failed to do so again against the Hornets, one night after beating the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Rockets, who are 7-4 on the road this season, have won four straight over Memphis including an 82-71 win earlier this season in Houston.
