(Sports Network) - University of Iowa basketball player Anthony Tucker was suspended Sunday because of an alcohol-related incident.
Tucker, the team's leading scorer through the first nine games of the year, will not practice or compete in games for the time being.
The guard's indefinite suspension is a result of an alcohol-related incident over the weekend that violated team rules and showed what coach Todd Lickliter called, a "lapse in judgement," according to Iowa's school newspaper.
"Anthony Tucker called me Sunday morning to tell me that he had a lapse in judgement, and he knew the ramifications for it," Lickliter said in the newspaper. "I'll just tell you, it was a lack of training. An alcohol-related lack of training."
Tucker has averaged 13.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game through Iowa's (7-2) first nine games this season.
