Washington - Advocates for children say in a new report that kids in D.C. are more likely to be homeless and face more serious health problems than in the past.

The report is called the Every Kid Counts in the District of Columbia 15th Annual Fact Book.

D.C. Children's Trust Fund head Kinaya Sokoya is one of the authors of the report and says many of the problems facing children are caused by poverty. Using data compiled with the help of the Urban Institute, the report shows obesity, sexually transmitted diseases, asthma hospitalizations and homelessness have increased in recent years.

There are some positive trends in the data. Violent deaths among older teens fell last year and student test scores rose.
