Harvard gave the nationally-ranked Huskies all they could handle that day and in Wednesday's matinee kept it close for nearly 17 minutes before the Hoyas scored the final 11 points of the first half.
Jason Clark snapped a 33-33 tie for Georgetown with a three-pointer at 3:12 mark before Monroe went to work. He came up with a steal at the other end, then put back a Freeman miss before coming up with a block that led to a three-pointer by Freeman for a 41-33 lead.
After a free throw by Wright, a steal by Monroe turned into a layup by Wright with 30 seconds left to give the Hoyas a 44-33 advantage heading to the intermission.
Georgetown opened an 18-point lead 5 1/2 minutes into the second half on a layup by Wright, who connected from beyond the arc four minutes later to extend the margin to 66-42.
The Crimson got only as close as 12, 80-68, on a three-pointer by Dee Giger with just under three minutes remaining.
Harvard opened a 10-7 edge just 4 1/2 minutes into the game after a steal and a dunk by Lin, and the Crimson led 14-13 before Georgetown took the lead for good on a three-pointer by Clark with just over 13 minutes left in the half.
The Hoyas scored seven straight points a few moments later to turn a one-point advantage into a 25-17 lead, but Harvard fought back. Oliver McNally's layup with 3 1/2 minutes left tied it at 33-33 for the Crimson.
