Today's Forecast

ABC7’S BRIAN van de GRAAFF

Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Frederick, MD, Loudoun and Northern Fauquier, VA and points north and west until 9AM. Light icing is possible in places with elevations near and above 1000 feet.

Showers from overnight continue to taper off with some minor icing possible north and west of the city, especially in areas with elevations near and above 1000 feet and where advisory is in place until 9AM. Expect a gray and cool afternoon with highs around the lower 40s. Tomorrow brings another day with abundant clouds and colder reading in the upper 30s to near 40° A storm system that was expected to pass well to our south, now looks to lift close enough to possible brush parts of the area with some precipitation by afternoon. At this point precipitation could start as rain but then change to snow with accumulations possible south of the city for sure. Its northern extent is still not defined as there will be a sharp cut-off, but a little snow even in the metro is possible tomorrow afternoon - with spots north of the city getting left out!

Sunshine returns for the tail end of the week from Friday through Sunday with temperatures near seasonable readings for the weekend. Another blast of cold air moves in to start next week making for a chilly Inauguration day. Have a great day!
