These red slashes demarcate where major Alabama tornadoes passed. The lower path traces an EF-4 twister's route from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham. Preliminary data suggests that 28 tornadoes touched down in the state during this major outbreak. (Nineteen have been confirmed.)
