Tropical storm Beatriz becoming Hurricane Beatriz: 2nd east Pacific cyclone of 2011

Forecasters on Monday were predicting that Tropical Storm Beatriz would bloat into a full-scale hurricane overnight, which would   be the eastern Pacific's second major cyclone this year. Watch the storm grow in these peachy images from U.S. satellites.

This infrared image from NASA's Aqua satellite on Monday shows convection (rising air) in purple. Convection is what really gets major storms going. The cloud tops are as cold as -63 degrees Fahrenheit.
