Hurricane Irene: Debris removal guidelines released by Department of Public Works
In the wake of Hurricane Irene, Washington remains littered with downed trees, limbs and branches. The D.C. Department of Public Works issued some instructions on what to do with them.
From Aug. 29 through Sept. 2, the Department of Public Works will remove branches cut into 4-foot lengths and tied into bundles no more than 2 feet in diameter from the treeboxes in front of residents' homes. After Sept. 2, these items can be placed where your trash is collected.
