The end of 'Don't ask, don't tell'
The repeal of the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy, which was signed into law by President Clinton in 1993, went into effect today. Gays and lesbians will now be able to serve openly in the U.S. armed services.
On October 2, 2010, tens of thousands of progressive activists attended the One Nation March in D.C. "Don't ask, don't tell" was one of the policies they protested.
