John Hinckley, Jr.: A primer (photos)

John Hinckley, Jr., who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, is in court today to ask for more time away from St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where he has lived since 1982.

Hinckley has had visits outside of the hospital for as long as 10 days. U.S. District Court Judge Paul L. Friedman has approved visits for Hinckley in the past and is now being asked to allow visits for up to 24 days.
