I took this photo (sure not the best of this conjunction) last evening. Think about the distances. The moon is 1/4 million miles away or a bit over 1 light second. Venus the second brightest, is 8 light minutes away and Jupiter, the largest planet, is 45 light minutes away. We see the past every night. . Imagine the stars are light years or thousands of light years away every night
