Learning About Urban Air Pollution

My environmental science students spent some time a few weeks ago learning about urban air pollution and the specific air pollutants we deal with in the region. A bi-product of gasoline combustion is nitrogen oxide, when sunlight and air molecules react with nitrogen oxide ground-level ozone forms. Ground-level ozone is one of the primary air pollutants we constantly contend with in and around Washington, and is quite often responsible for the degradation of the area's air quality.
