D.C. Beautification Day works to spruce up D.C. Public Schools
Thousands of volunteers turned out this Saturday for the annual D.C. Public Schools "Beautification Day" event in an effort to “spruce up” D.C. public school buildings ahead of the first day of school.
Robin Jefferson stood with her son Stephen, 9, on his birthday behind her desk at Orr Elementary. Stephen is entering the 4th grade at Watkins Elementary and his mother teaches kindergarten at Orr, but previously taught 2nd grade for 14 years.
