PHOTOS: Unsightly algae invades reflecting pool

Several weeks after the reflecting pool in front of the Lincoln Memorial reopened, unsightly algae and scum has crept in again. The algae can be seen covering the surface at one end of the reflecting pool.

For now, Park Service staff is trying to skim algae from the surface. In the long-term, it is working to improve the filtration system to prevent further algae from growing. (Photo: James Joslyn/WJLA)
