Witches, black cats, bats and monsters – all of these things scream Halloween! But why? Brush up on your haunted history skills as you click through the holiday’s most iconic images.



Folklore states that witches gathered on October 31st to celebrate the changing of the seasons. They flew on broomsticks, stirred cauldrons and cast nasty spells as they celebrated All Hallows’ Eve.
