Marion Barry's Thanksgiving turkey giveaway draws thousands
About 2,000 people showed up for Marion Barry's annual turkey giveaway Tuesday. Anyone who could prove they were a resident of D.C.'s Ward 8 received a turkey. When the Washington City Paper asked Barry where the money for the giveaway comes from, he refused to answer, adding "...only 'liberal white folk" are interested in the source of the funds. Barry claims he keeps the source a secret to protect donors from the media.
