Nick Cave highlighted at THEARC's open house
Washington's THEARC (Town Hall Education, Arts Recreation Campus) hosted its 7th annual community open house November 28 with special guest Nick Cave, a renowned visual artist and dancer. The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with Art in Embassies (AIE), celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The AIE program has played a leading role in U.S. public diplomacy by promoting cross-cultural dialogue and understanding through the visual arts, and by sponsoring dynamic artist exchanges.
Marisa Wright, 15, an advanced piano student with the the Levine School of Music at THEARC, rehearsed a piece she wrote that was inspired by Nick Cave. (A video installation of Cave will show above Wright as she plays her piece.)
