Nick Cave highlighted at THEARC's open house
Washington's THEARC (Town Hall Education, Arts Recreation Campus) hosted its 7th annual community open house November 28 with special guest Nick Cave, a renowned visual artist and dancer. The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with Art in Embassies (AIE), celebrated its 50th anniversary.
The AIE program has played a leading role in U.S. public diplomacy by promoting cross-cultural dialogue and understanding through the visual arts, and by sponsoring dynamic artist exchanges.
Katrina Toews, director of the Washington Ballet at THEARC, stood on stage after rehearsal on Tuesday night. Toews also dances and was recently in "Into the Dollhouse," a performance piece created by Banished? Productions that ran at Arena Stage earlier this month.
