PHOTOS: Thousands freeze their fur off at the Polar Bear Plunge

Thousands took a dip in the frigid Chesapeake Bay Saturday for the the 17th Annual MSP Polar Bear Plunge, which benefits Special Olympics Maryland. The event was expected to bring in $2.8M for the organization.

First-time Polar Bear Plunge tips encouraged people to wear shoes and also noted that "you will be cold and possibly numb, so loose-fitting, easy-on clothes without a lot of snaps, zippers or buttons are best."
